Golnar Khosrowshahi is the founder and President of Reservoir Media Management, a boutique music publishing company based in New York City. Established in 2007, Reservoir owns and administers over 75,000 copyrights, with hits recorded by artists including 2 Chainz, Aaliyah, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Phantogram, John Denver, Madonna, MØ, and a range of other acts across several genres and eras.
Prior to her foray into the music industry, Ms. Khosrowshahi worked in a number of different roles in advertising, design, and experiential marketing. The most important of these roles positioned her as the Global Brand Manager at Euro RSCG, a division of Havas Advertising, for Fortune 500 companies such as Philips Electronics and MCI Telecommunications. In these positions Ms. Khosrowshahi led the development team and coordinated all of the global advertising campaigns with celebrity endorsers starring in musically driven creative concepts. Ms. Khosrowshahi, fluent in 4 languages, developed the strategy and supervised the campaigns around the world while stationed in London, England, Singapore and at Euro RSCG company headquarters in Paris, France.
Ms. Khosrowshahi has an MBA from Columbia University with a concentration in media management and finance and a BA from Bryn Mawr College in Political Science.
In addition to her role as President of Reservoir, she serves as President and Chair of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad. Inspired by his curiosity about the world and eager to forge connections across cultures, disciplines and generations, cellist Yo-Yo Ma founded the nonprofit organization Silkroad in 1998. The Silkroad Ensemble was formed in 2000 as a way of bringing together innovative performers and composers representing traditions from around the world. Ms. Khosrowshahi is also a trustee emeritus of Pearson College, one of the United World Colleges located in British Columbia, a Director Emeritus of the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation in Toronto, a member of the President’s Advisory Council at Bryn Mawr College, a director of the Board of Governors of the Toronto French School and a former trustee of the Enycolopaedia Iranica Foundation at the Columbia University Centre for Iranian Studies in New York.
Ms. Khosrowshahi lives in Toronto, Canada with her husband and two thirteen-year-old daughters. She is a classically trained pianist through the Royal Academy of Music in London, England and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada. She is an avid runner and trained ski instructor certified by the Canadian Ski Instructor’s Association, as well as a certified tennis instructor through the United States Tennis Association.
