Goodlatte Honored with President’s Award

NMPA President & CEO David Israelite presents the President’s Award to Rep. Bob Goodlatte in Goodlatte’s Capitol Hill office

The National Music Publishers’ Association presented the 2011 President’s Award to the Hon. Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet on May 24, 2011.  Rep. Goodlatte has tirelessly championed the importance of intellectual property rights and enforcement as a necessary component to a healthy economy and job creation for many years.

In his role as Chairman of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet, Chairman Goodlatte oversees every significant piece of legislation concerning intellectual property, including current ongoing efforts to curb digital theft by rogue website operators. He is also Co-Chair of the Congressional Internet Caucus and Co-Chair of the Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus, which releases an annual watch list of countries with troublesome intellectual property practices.

The NMPA is appreciative of his leadership this year as Chairman of the House Judiciary Intellectual Property Subcommittee, and honored he accepted this year's President's Award on behalf of the music publishing and songwriting community.
