NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters for August 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NMPA today announced the top songwriters, publishers, and 602 certifications of hit songs for August as part of its Gold & Platinum Program.

In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters and publishers of RIAA-certified singles. RIAA counts both sales and on-demand streams towards its Gold (500K), Platinum (1M) and Multi-Platinum (2M+) thresholds.  Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.

The top songwriters with twenty-one certifications are Chester Bennington, Robert Bourdon, Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park (UMPG):

Multi-Platinum: Bleed It Out, Burn It Down, In The End, New Divide, Numb, Numb/Encore, Shadow Of The Day, and What I’ve Done.

Platinum: Faint, In The End, One Step Closer, Leave Out All The Rest, and Waiting For The End.

Gold: Breaking The Habit, Crawling, Faint, Given Up, Heavy, Iridescent, One Step Closer, and Papercut.

The runner-up songwriter with fifteen certifications is David Farrell of Linkin Park (UMPG):Bleed It Out, Burn It Down, New Divide, Numb, Numb/Encore, Shadow Of The Day, and What I’ve Done all certified Multi-Platinum; Faint, Leave Out All The Rest, and Waiting For The End all certified Platinum; and Breaking The Habit, Faint, Given Up, Heavy and Iridescent certified Gold.
