NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters and Certifications for Third Quarter of 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) Gold & Platinum Program today announced the top songwriters for the third quarter of 2022, including the top artist-songwriter and top non-performing songwriter for the period. During July, August and September, 2341 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum certifications were awarded.
Beyoncé was the top artist-songwriter overall with 60 certifications including the 9X Multi-Platinum Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), the 6X Multi-Platinum Drunk in Love and the 4X Multi-Platinum Run The World (Girls). She is published by Sony Music Publishing.
The top non-performing songwriter was Southside with 14 certifications for hits with Future, Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne, among others, including the 4X Multi-Platinum Both and 3X Multi-Platinum Stick Talk.
NMPA President & CEO David Israelite congratulated the honorees saying, “Beyoncé is a legend and her astonishing 60 certifications prove her ongoing chart dominance. Her abilities as a songwriter are often overshadowed by her talents as a performer so it is a privilege to shine a light on this achievement. Southside’s certifications illustrate his success as a songwriter and producer. In addition to his many Multi-Platinum hits, he has numerous Gold hits that will undoubtedly continue to climb.”
