NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters for January 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NMPA today announced the top songwriters and 282 certifications of hit songs for January as part of its Gold & Platinum Program which identifies and honors songwriters of RIAA-certified hits.
In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters of RIAA-certified singles. RIAA counts both sales and on-demand streams towards its Gold (500K), Platinum (1M) and Multi-Platinum (2M+) thresholds. Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.
The top songwriter with eight certifications is Metro Boomin (UMPG): Where Ya At certified Multi-Platinum; No Heart and Bad and Boujee both certified Platinum; and 3500, Bad and Boujee, Rich $ex, Thought It Was A Drought, and You Was Right all certified Gold.
Other top songwriters tied with six certifications include:
Future (UMPG): Where Ya At certified Multi-Platinum; Stick Talk certified Platinum; and 3500, Rich $ex, Thought It Was A Drought, and Used To This all certified Gold.
Tyler Joseph (Warner/Chappell): Doubt, Fairly Local, Heavydirtysoul, Lane Boy, Polarize, and The Judge all certified Gold
