Eric Sunray
Eric Sunray joined NMPA in 2023 and serves as Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs. In this role, Eric participates in copyright infringement litigation, provides support in CRB proceedings, and advises on domestic policy matters to advance NMPA’s legal, business, and policy objectives.
Prior to joining NMPA, Eric’s practice entailed drafting and negotiating numerous business and entertainment agreements, as well as strategically advising independent songwriters and recording artists on intellectual property matters. Eric has also published two articles on the intersection of music copyright law and generative AI. He is a former NMPA intern.
Additionally, Eric has been a guitarist for over two decades. In that time, he played on several records and performed in venues and at music festivals across North America, including tour dates supporting Brandon Flowers (The Killers), an appearance at Richard Hell’s (Television, Richard Hell & the Voidoids) “Night Out with Richard Hell” series, and a performance at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Eric is a graduate of Miami University (OH) and received his Juris Doctorate cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law.
